Nomination & Selection
There are over iv,500 secondary schoolhouse that are eligible to nominate students for the regional contest for the Jefferson Scholarship. Each school may nominate 1 or 2 student per year from the graduating class.
Once nominated, students are required to go through a selection process. Student nominees will first be placed into regional competitions, and 120 finalists from regionals volition exist invited to Charlottesville for the Jefferson Scholarship Pick Weekend in late March.

Small outside scholarships are always a good thought merely many people don't realize much-larger opportunities available. 1 of the main reasons (mayhap THE main reason) I chose to nourish UVA is considering of the Jefferson Scholarship. It not merely pays all my college expenses, but also opens up an extremely strong and shut-knit grouping of alumni connections and forges and instant community amidst the scholars (~35 per year). At my schoolhouse, we had to utilise to be nominated by our counselors for the scholarship. Many students at my school weren't fifty-fifty aware of this.
